About the campaign

Decolonize Politics is a grassroots campaign dedicated to sparking open dialogue, driving systemic change, and building powerful coalitions to dismantle colonial legacies in governance. We believe in reclaiming narratives, redistributing power, and shaping a future rooted in justice and equity.

Hi there 👋

I’m Eden (she/her) and the Founder of Decolonize Politics. My work is deeply rooted in migration, climate justice and human rights, and I’m currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy (MPP) in Berlin, Germany. But beyond academics, I’m an activist, founder and journalist, committed to dismantling colonial legacies and pushing for justice in every space I enter.

I believe that politics, governance, and activism cannot be separated from history – and that history is still shaping the inequalities we see today. Through Decolonize Politics, I want to help rewrite the rules and create space for the voices that history tried to silence. Because justice isn’t something we wait for – it’s something we build, together!

        Inspiration behind the campaign

In 2023, I visited Brussels’ Africa Museum. At first, it seemed like any other museum: grand sculptures, glass doors and curated exhibitions. But the deeper I looked, the more disturbing the reality became. My Congolese tour guide spoke openly and frustratedly about the museum’s whitewashed portrayal of history. The horror of Belgium’s colonial rule – millions of Congolese murdered, raped, and enslaved under King Leopold II – was glossed over. The moment I saw a statue of King Leopold II with a small

Congolese child begging at his feet, my heart dropped. That visit changed me. As someone from a country that resisted colonial rule, I grew up thinking colonialism was an issue of the past, but walking through Brussels afterward, I felt nauseous, angry, and deeply unsettled – realizing that so many nations were built on stolen wealth, stolen lives, and stolen futures. One year later, on the 140th anniversary of the Berlin Conference, I launched Decolonize Politics to fight the legacies of colonialism still shaping our world today.
